Kallummakaya (Green mussel) is another favorite cuisine of Malabar. Different dishes are made of it. Crab, prawns etc. are largely available in these region and the dishes made of them are simply irresistible.
Fish Items are another major attraction of Kerala. Neymeen, Karimeen, Ayala, Avoli, Netholi etc. has got a huge demand among the countrymen as well as the foreign visitors. Kappa (Tapioca), Kallu (Toddy) with Fish Fry or Beef Fry will satisfy your hunger for variety for sure.
The traditional vegetarian breakfast items of Kerala are famous all over the world. ‘Puttu’ is one of the most famous items among these. It is made up of rice powder and grated coconut. It uses steam for cooking and is a healthy food item. Kadala curry made of black garbanzo beans is served with Puttu. Paalappam, Dosha, Idly, Idiyappam, Noolputtu, Appam etc. are the most favorite breakfast items of Kerala. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries are served with these items.
Paayasam is the yummiest cuisine of Kerala. This delicious desert is usually prepared using milk, sugar, dry grapes, cashews etc. The varieties of Payasam are Paal Paayasm, Pradhaman, Ada Paayasam, Kadala Paayasam etc. Paal Paayasam served in Ambalappuzha Temple at Alleppy is a world famous item.
The major sweet items include Unniyappam which is a fried rice cake, Halwa, Pazham Pori, Ilayappam, Chakkayappam made of jack fruit, Theraliyappam, Achappam, Neyyappam, Murukku etc.
