The Kurinjimala sanctuary is near to the Top Station, which is a protected area made exclusively to preserve the Neelakurinji plants. You can see the panoramic view of the Western Ghats from here. The breath taking visuals from the View point at Top Station are unforgettable. The Top Station is located near the border of Tamil Nadu and you can also see the valley of Theni district from here.
Another nostalgic memory that you get from Munnar is of the Chinnar Forest area. It is a wildlife sanctuary of Kerala and is famous for its mind blowing sceneries and greenery. The major attraction in Chinnar is the Thoovanam Waterfalls which lie deep inside the forest. It is a major tourist attraction in Munnar. If you are lucky you can see many specious of animals, birds and reptiles in the forest including panthers, elephants, tigers, sambar. Hanuman monkey, Neelgiri Tahr, giant Squirrels, Mugger crocodiles, Indian star tortoise and yellow throated bulbuls etc. About thousand specious of flowering plant and 150 specious of butterflies are other attractions at here.
The walk along the Chinnar and Pambar River banks are really romantic and tourist’s favourite activity at here. The entire views of this park can be seen from the top of the Watch Tower at here. If you plan a camping, it will give you many exciting experiences that will reflect in your nostalgic memories later. You can also visit the Marayoor sandalwood forest at here which is the only place in Kerala where sandalwoods are protected. When you stands at the banks of Pambar River, remember that you are watching one of the three rivers of Kerala that flows eastwards out of total 44 rivers.
