Kerala Travel Mart, or fondly referred to as KTM, is a one of its kind event which showcases the most popular tourism brand in India, the state of Kerala. In the recent years, Kerala has grown to be one of Asia’s most visited and popular tourist destinations. Kerala Travel Mart focuses on the large tourism potential that kerala holds and brings together Tand sellers to the same foyer, which helps the industry, tourists as well as the people of Kerala. KTM is a biennial event which saw its beginning in the year 2000 when a group of visionaries came together and pooled in their ideas and ways of thought into action for the betterment of Kerala as a tourist destination. The buyers and sellers who have come together in the past seven times the event was conducted saw tremendous increase not only in terms of number but also in terms of standard and global approach.
There was a record participation of over 1250 buyers from above 50 countries in the previous KTM event which was held in 2012. Leading global superpower nations have recognized the potential that this event and destination holds and have extended great support in every step forward. As it always has happened, this time too KTM will be “the ideal space (for players in the industry) to make fresh contacts, strike deals and discover new realms of success.”
This time around too KTM is coming with lot more opportunities and boons. The eight edition of KTM is going to be a grand affair with hundreds of international and national buyers around. The event will be held at Samudrika Convention Centre, Cochin from 18to 20 September, 2014. It is for the first time that KTM is hosted by Cochin. The highlights of this year’s event are the promotion of Kerala as a perfect wedding destination and the appearance of the venue and premises- the theme being Village.
The inaugural function of KTM 2014 is going to be held at Le Meridian Convention Center, Cochin on 17 September. The fair will be inaugurated by none other than Shri Oommen Chandy, the Honourable Chief Minister of the State. The function will have many eminent names of the industry, along with Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of India, who will be the Chief Guest for the event. Through the course of the three days that KTM is held, there will be numerous seminars on various aspects of Kerala as a prime tourist destination, being precided over by eminent dignitaries. There will also be press business hours, which is the pulse of the event- where all the hustle and bustle forms meaning. Press meets is scheduled to happen of the first day of the event and the venue will be open for public visitors on the last day.
